Meet the Teacher

This is my 16th year of teaching!  Wow! How time flies! I was at North Liberty for 15 years and am so excited to be at MCS teaching this year!  I have been married to my husband for 12 years.  We were married at St. Joe.  Our three beautiful children have attended MCS since my oldest, Jacob, was in K.  He is ten now.  Lucas is eight, and Lauren is starting K this year!  Enjoy every second with your children!  They grow so fast!  In between teaching and running my children to sports, I enjoy reading and swimming.

Education Experience

I attended IUSB and earned my bachelor degree in Elementary Education.  I then went back and earned my masters degree at IUSB. Teaching has always been a passion for me.

*Composition Notebook

*Writing Notebook

*Library book

*Binder/Folders

Pens/Pencils/Highlighters

Homework: I will post the homework on here and it will also be in each student's agenda.  Students are to take the agendas home each week. PLEASE NOTE: ALL 6TH GRADERS WILL COME HOME WITH A LIGHT GREEN FOLDER THAT IS THE HOMEWORK FOLDER.

Late Policy:

*One day late will result in 20% off the assignment
**Two days late will result in 50% off the assignment
***Three days will result in a zero for the assignment

**Each student should be reading 20 min a night for AR.  Students have been given their AR levels and are able to take AR test now!

NOTE:  For vocab test I have had the students put letters next to the number so they know what to study for the test.  P=pronunication, PS= parts of speech, Def=defintion (they will need to know the word and the definition; they are given a word bank). Syn=synonym-they will need to know a synonym for the word.  These are listed in their vocab book under each word. Ant=antonym-these are listed in their vocab book under each word.  Here is a website to practice vocabulary:
vocabularyworkshop.com.  Choose Level A for sixth grade and then whatever unit we are on and level B for 7th grade and whatever unit we are on.

AR Points DUE March 12  (25 points-6th grade, 30 points-7th grade) Students should read 20-30 minutes a night.   Happy Reading!

***Some student's still have zero AR points.  Be sure to read as this will count for a grade!

***Homework is subject to change***

***AR points for 6th grade=25

***AR points for 7th grade=30
