Welcome to FOURTH GRADE!
I'm so happy YOU are here!

This is my first year in fourth grade  AND my first year teaching at Mishawaka Catholic School. Luckily, I have my favorite (and only) daughter right next door and knowing that helps to ease any nerves I might have about being back in the classroom for the first time since 2015!

I am  thrilled for the opportunity to collaborate with Mrs. Lehmann as your English Language Arts teacher while she shares her expertise in math, science, and social studies. As your homeroom teacher, I am here to help you in any way I can with the subjects Mrs. Lehmann is teaching, but having the chance to focus on the practices of reading, writing, grammar, and spelling is going to give us many opportunities to devote our attention to learning some amazing things together this year.

My family has called Mishawaka home since 2013 and we have been parishioners at St. Monica since Ash Wednesday of 2019.  It was in July of 2013 that my husband, Tim, our daughter, Cecilia (now nine years old), and I moved from Tucson, Arizona and purchased our home while we waited for our oldest boy, Simon  (seven years old), to join our family. Our second son, Oliver, is in kindergarten at St. Bavo and our youngest son, Jack, is four years old and in the 3/4 pre-k class in the same building as his big brothers.

Prior to moving here, Tim was an Active Duty Officer in the U.S. Air Force and he received his commission upon graduation from Notre Dame in 2004. We were married at the Basilica in April of 2008, about one year after I graduated from Saint Mary's College with my B.A. in Sociology. We moved around a ton before we put down roots here, but I grew up the daughter of two military officers, so nomadic living was all I knew before we settled down seven years ago. Now I can't imagine ever moving again, and I am so grateful for our parish community and the faith-focused community of educators, learners, and families here at MCS!

In 2010, I began my Master of Arts in Teaching for initial licensure in grades PK-Sixth while we were living in Brunswick, Georgia. In December of 2012, Cecilia and I said farewell to Tim in Izmir, Turkey and we moved to South Bend where we lived while I did my student teaching in first grade at St. Jude. I graduated in 2012 and received my license from the state of Virginia upon completion of my degree. I taught kindergarten at St. Thomas in Elkhart during the 2014-15 school year, but when we found out I was pregnant with Oliver, I opted to stay home with the three little ones, who quickly became four...

And, now, here we are and I couldn't be happier or more eager to start the 2020-2021 school year with this class of wonderful learners and saints
