 Hello families!  My name is Angie Penn.  I am a graduate of Saint Mary's College and have been a resident of South Bend most of my life.  I have been married to my husband Brian for twelve years and we have two children.  Colin is in 6th grade and Mia is in 4th grade at Christ the King School.  This is my seventh year teaching first grade at Mishawaka Catholic School.  I will keep this page updated with our newsletters, homework and other important information going on in our classroom. ACADEMIC NEWS


READING – We will be reading Tomas Rivera: A Biography.  We will be focusing on sequence of events in a story.  The sight words this week are: done, paper, were, great, soon, work, laugh, and talk.

PHONICS – Students will be learning to read and write words with the digraph ea and diphthongs oi and oy.

MATH – Students will be comparing numbers using place value, symbols, and a number line.

RELIGION- Students will be learning how Jesus teaches us to pray.  Prayer is talking to God.  God answers our prayers in his own time. 

SOCIAL STUDIES- Students will be reading Spectacular Spectacles: Thinking Like a Citizen.  We will be learning about: What rules help a community to get along? What We can do to help others in our community?
